Meet Natalie Singer, the latest addition to the RSA team! She joins us as our Office Administrator and all-around pinch-hitter. Natalie brings over eight years of experience ranging from small business management and administration to marketing. Let’s get to know what makes her tick.

What is your professional background?

I began my career making salads!  As a classically-trained cook, I worked my way into restaurant and small business management, with stops along the way for whole-animal butchering, cheese mongering, gourmet grocery purchasing, event planning, food photography, and marketing.

A little less glamorous? I have years of experience managing dynamic deadlines, budgets, labor – and lots of love for creating systems and processes to solve problems.

What inspired you to work with architects?

I have always enjoyed thinking about the spaces that we spend time in and how we interact with those spaces.  I think it’s incredible how they can influence us: inspiring, facilitating, engaging.  I like tactile things, beautifully designed, marked by craftsmanship.  And what an exciting feat of planning, to create a building!

What do you look forward to most about working at RoehrSchmitt Architecture?

It’s thrilling to be (virtually) surrounded by such an accomplished, creative, and tight-knit team of professionals.  I have so much to learn from each of them – and the pleasure of getting to know them.

How do you want to make an impact on your firm?

I think of it like that old saying about how a swan is so beautiful, serene, and graceful above water, and then underneath the surface: legs paddling furiously. I’ll be those invisible paddling legs.

A favorite tool of the trade?

I love a good notebook – or two.  I’m always taking notes.

Describe your perfect day.

A perfect day starts with a big cup of coffee, the newspaper, and no plans! It ends outside, with a cool breeze, my husband and a couple of our close friends lingering over a good meal, and no thoughts about the next day.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee!  But I never say no to any good, hot drink.

What is one word you would use to describe your team? Explain why.

Dynamic: they’ve got a wide range of talents, and pull on each other’s strengths to execute a variety of projects excellently.

What is your favorite thing to do that isn't work-related?

I’m always keeping my hands busy and trying to learn new things.  Lately, I’ve enjoyed reupholstering every piece of furniture that I can get my hands on and spending time in the garden.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

“Taste everything!”  Be thorough, be sure, be curious.
